Flowertime Florist & We Send Flowers work with Julian Foye Hayle

Flowertime and We Send Flowers were asked to create some eye catching designs for the new
Julian Foye Store grand opening.
The designs, colours and flowers types were left to us and the only request from the company was to produce something different.

We produced some interesting table designs using fabric, ribbon and natural fibres to match the company's colours.

Also we had to construct serveral large displays for the foyer and other areas around the store.

We are in the Good Florist Guide 2011.

17th May 2011

PRESTIGIOUS ACCOLADE FOR Flowertime Florist Ltd, Hayle

Flowertime Ltd in Hayle has been accepted for the Good Florist Guide (GFG), a web based directory of the finest florists in the UK, for the third year running. This prestigious accolade is only awarded to florists who really make the grade and allows customers to have an extra level of confidence that they are buying from the best.

Each florist shop invited to be in the guide has to pass a rigorous evaluation process before being approved. This meant Flowertime had to submit a detailed description of their floristry business, including range available and services offered as well as images of the shop, their design work, their team and even the delivery vehicle!

But GFG shops aren’t just some of the best looking shops, they also offer the very best value when it comes to buying bespoke floristry and flowers because not only are they true craftsmen but have the very best product knowledge to make sure the flowers and plants you buy from them will last for ages.

Commenting on their success Mark Nicholas NDSF FSF CFD AIFD of Flowertime Ltd said; ‘We are delighted to be accepted into the Good Florist Guide three years in a row. We are passionate about flowers, design, quality and the service we give to each of our customers so it is wonderful to have this recognised.’

Caroline Marshall - Foster, the UK’s leading expert on independent bespoke florists, is responsible for setting up the Good Florist Guide. Editor of Florist & Wholesale Buyer, the florist industry’s bible, and owner of Wordhouse Publishing Group, a multi-faceted company providing services to all sectors of the flower industry, the Good Florist Guide is Caroline’s way of sharing the knowledge she has gained through years in the industry.

Caroline says “You can buy flowers virtually anywhere these days. But nothing really beats the experience of receiving fabulous flowers from a truly bespoke florist and without it costing an arm or a leg. GFG is my way of sharing all that is good about floristry. It allows consumers to know that the florist they use is able and willing to go the extra mile and make all their purchases, big or small, truly special.”

Plant of the Month

Brighamia insignis – Hawaiian vulcan palm
Brighamia insignis belongs to the campanulaceae family and is endemic to Hawaii. This means it’s the only place where it is found. It has a succulent stem with leaves forming a dense rosette at the top. It’s an endangered species, commonly known as Hawaiian Vulcan palm, älula, olulu or sometimes cabbage on a stick.
care
Brighamia insignis does best if located from bright with some morning and/or evening sun to light shaded, should be protected from afternoon sun.
The Hawaiian vulcan palm needs a well-drained soil, using a mix of loam free garden soil, coarse sand and pumice (2:1:1). but it also grows in a regular cactus mix.
It can be deep watered, what’s flowing out of the pot should be removed after a few minutes. Wet legs can cause rotten roots. Before adding water next let the soil moderately dry.
A half diluted cactus fertilizer can be given monthly in spring and summer and every six to eight weeks during fall and winter. Recently repotted plants don’t need to be fed for the first six to eight weeks.
Brighamia insignis has to be cultivated at room temperature the year round and needs a winter minimum of 15 °c/59 °f.A high humidity is welcome and it likes to be sprayed over with water every day.
